Lisvane Art Workshop

33rd Annual Exhibition

17th / 18th November 2017

Despite the TV counter attractions and Saturday’s rain, the 33rd Annual Exhibition on November 17th & 18th was a qualified success.

We had 110 visitors, down on last year, but better than the two previous years. This was quite pleasing as we didn’t do any flyer distribution this year. Sales were down too, selling 7 paintings and 5 prints, plus lots of cards. Most of the sales were on Friday evening and the poor weather on Saturday probably kept some people away. We made a good profit overall despite fewer sales.

The exhibition itself was splendid. The hall looked festive and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming as usual. The standard of art continues to improve - a gallery of the paintings hanging is here.

The winner of the Ted Martin Trophy for the visitors’ favourite painting was Paul Arnott for his watercolour West Wales Beachcasting, which gained 11 votes. Second was Ian’s watercolour It’s Worth It When You Get There! with 9 votes (both will be shown in the exhibition gallery) and third Ian’s watercolour Grand Canal, Venice (see Lisvane Festival Exhibition) with 8 votes. Paul wins the Ted Martin Trophy for the first time. Congratulations, Paul!

Paul and other members Jane Patten and Viv Bushell were present demonstrating at various times during the exhibition - both Paul and Viv sold one of their demonstration paintings.
